Wajah Bola Selangor: Mohammad Nor Ashraff Bin Amran

Follow this edition of Wajah Bola Selangor which reveals the journey of a physiotherapist from Red Giants Medical Centre, one of the earliest individuals to have served with Selangor FC in the joy of sports medicine.

Starting from a deep interest in the field of physiotherapy until now taking on the responsibility of Branch Manager of Red Giants Medical Centre (RGMC) in Shah Alam, Mohammad Nor Ashraff Bin Amran proves that determination, knowledge and experience can bring about big changes in the world of physiotherapy. With almost a decade of experience, he has not only been one of calibre among the physiotherapists in Selangor FC (SFC) medical team, but also played an important role in helping many athletes and general patients recover and lead active lives.

A graduate of the Universiti Kuala Lumpur Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP) in the Physiotherapy department, this physiotherapist began to get to know the field of physiotherapy since his secondary school days, when he actively represented his school in softball at the state level and the Malaysian Schools Sports Council (MSSM). His interest deepened when he realized the importance of physiotherapy in helping athletes maintain performance and recover from injuries.

After graduating, Ashraff began his career at a medical center before switching completely to sports physiotherapy when he joined Selangor FC in 2018. For him, physiotherapy is not just about treating injuries, but a responsibility to guide individuals to recover completely in terms of physical, mental and self-confidence. Throughout his time with Selangor FC, he has contributed to various levels of the team including the Youth Cup squad, President's Cup, futsal squad, as well as the Selangor FC main squad.

Among the most meaningful experiences of his career was the opportunity to help several key players return to the field after suffering serious injuries. The players he has helped to monitor include Rufino Segovia, Brendan Gan, Shahrel Fikri, Nik Sharif and Noor Al Rawabdeh. In addition to footballers, he also monitored renowned Malaysian actor Hairul Azreen in 2023. “Seeing those I have treated return to action on the field brings immense satisfaction. It reminds me of the true purpose of this profession is helping someone recover from injury,” he explained.

His experience treating professional athletes has taught him a lot about precision, patience, and the importance of strategic planning in every recovery process. These values ??are now translated into the treatment approach at Red Giants Medical Centre. According to Ashraff, RGMC emphasizes a science-based approach and clinical evidence to ensure that each patient receives comprehensive and effective treatment.

“Most patients who come to RGMC face long-term injuries such as in the knees, ankles, and spine. We conduct a comprehensive face-to-face examination to ensure an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan. This approach allows us to plan the recovery process in stages, according to the level of injury and the patient’s lifestyle,” said Ashraff.

RGMC offers a variety of professional physiotherapy treatments including manual therapy, rehabilitation exercises, the use of modality tools to aid tissue healing, as well as advanced techniques such as dry needling, sports massage, and taping. Through this comprehensive approach, RGMC is not just a treatment center, but also a place for patients to rebuild their strength and confidence to return to activity.

Apart from being active in the clinic, Ashraff also shares knowledge and awareness about physiotherapy through social media. He hopes that more people will understand the importance of seeking treatment from a certified specialist rather than trying to treat themselves without guidance. “Physiotherapy is not just for athletes, but for all segments of society who want to maintain the health of their muscles, joints and body movements in the right way,” he added.

Closing the conversation, Ashraff expressed his gratitude for his challenging career and many valuable experiences, “I still remember a coach’s message, don’t worry about what the club can give you, instead think about what you can contribute to the club. I hold on to that principle to this day, not only when with the team, but also in every treatment session at RGMC,” he said.

With extensive experience in sports physiotherapy and a high commitment to patient recovery, Mohammad Nor Ashraff continues to strive to make Red Giants Medical Centre the treatment center of choice for those who want to return to being active, healthy and confident in their daily lives.
